Jennifer Denise Ouellette

I am a recent cum laude graduate of the Integrated Credential Program (ICP) at California State University San Marcos. My depth of study was in Literature and Writing. I have passed the CBEST, RICA and CSETs. When I finish my student teaching (12/09) I will have a subject matter authorization for middle school English as well as my K-8 credential.

As part of the ICP program I had two 96 hour field practicum experiences. I spent a semester at Central Elementary in Escondido working in the fifth grade with cooperating teacher Jose Fregoso. This practicum gave me in-depth experience in working with English Language Learners.

My second field practicum was in the eighth grade at Monarch School. Monarch is part of the San Diego County Juvenile Court and Community School District. This practicum included work with English Language Learners and students that were academically and socially disadvantaged. My cooperating teacher at Monarch was Dana Harwood.

I came to teaching after 20 years of volunteering at the schools my four children attended in the San Diego Unified School District.

My special talents in the classroom include the use of technology and poetry to motivate reluctant learners and to improve the language skills of English Language Learners. I have strong classroom management skills and rapport with students. I enjoy working with a diverse community of learners.

I can provide excellent and enthusiastic references from my cooperating teachers and from my professors at CSUSM.
